Consent goes through Selwyn District Council
Lincoln is in the Selwyn District. Selwyn requires consent for retaining walls over 1.5 metres, with a 3 metre threshold for rural sites where a chartered professional engineer has done the design.
That rural threshold is worth knowing if your property is zoned rural. It can change what is possible on a bank without a full consent process, and we will tell you where your section sits.
New housing means new level changes
Because most Lincoln houses are recent, the walls we build are usually holding engineered platform edges rather than natural banks. They are short, straight and easy to access, which prices well.
Lincoln University sits at the centre of the town and a good part of the local rental stock sits around it, so we also do a reasonable amount of repair work on older walls for landlords.
