Older sections and new sections need different answers
On the established properties around the village, walls are usually about the garden. Low terraces, raised beds, a level change beside a drive. Timber and stone both suit, and there is normally room to work.
On the newer subdivisions the walls hold platform edges between neighbouring sections, and they tend to be straight boundary runs. Keystone block and timber pole cover most of that.

Selwyn District Council handles the paperwork

Plenty of Prebbleton properties sit on more land than a suburban section, which means longer walls and better access. Both work in your favour on price, because setup costs spread over more metres and a machine can get to the wall line.
